You might remember almost 7 years ago when a fatally shot woman was dumped in the road on this block.

Another police call to a familiar neighborhood in Kennewick.

Early Monday morning, Kennewick Police responded to several calls about people hearing gunfire in the 600 block of North Tweedt Street, just off Hood.

KPD released a statement that read in part, from Officer Jose Mata:

"Several callers advised hearing several gunshots in the area. When officers arrived in the area, they discovered several shell casings and other evidence of a weapon being fired. Officers canvased the area but no suspect was located. No one was injured from this incident. At this time, this is still an ongoing investigation."

Over the last few years, crime has increased noticeably in this area, including a 2019 incident in November that left shell casings all over the road. Previously, two other drive-by shootings resulted in various buildings being hit, including one where bullets were found lodged in the wall of a person's living room--inside.

It was also in this area where in 2015 on Christmas Eve, a 21-year-old woman was fatally shot by her on-again, off-again boyfriend, and her body was dumped in the middle of the street in the 600 block of North Tweedt.

Police continue to investigate this latest issue.
