Kennewick police continue the investigation into an alleged drive by shooting Tuesday night in a neighborhood that has already seen several serious incidents.

Police were called to the area just north of the intersection of Hood and North Tweedt Streets, neighbors saying they heard gunfire. Police did find a number of shells in the road, but no reports of any vehicles or homes hit. No injuries either, but police are leaning towards a drive by incident.

This is the same neighborhood where a man fatally shot his girlfriend on Christmas Eve 2015, then dumped her body in the road in the same area, the 600 block of North Tweedt.

It's also the same area where several drive by shootings over the last two years have left bullet holes in the walls of several apartment and townhouse buildings. The area has become far more 'familiar' to police for growing issues such as this.
