Hand Foot and Mouth Disease Hits Area School, Oh and Lice Too
A warning to parents in the Waitsburg/Dayton area from the school district stating there has been a confirmed case of Hand Foot & Mouth disease, which is highly contagious.
The school district issued two separate e-mails to parents recently suggesting parents encourage their children to wash their hands often so as not to spread HFM or also the flu and other viruses which tend to escalate at this time of year.

Hand-foot-and-mouth disease, or HFMD, is caused by a virus. Symptoms include ulcers, or sores, inside or around the mouth, and a rash or blisters on the hands, feet, legs, or buttocks. And while it's not pleasant, it also isn't serious. Anyone can get the disease, but children under age 10 are most likely to catch it.
The school district is also reporting cases of head lice although such cases are handled very discreetly now days.
