World Famous 6-Ton Idaho Potato is Now an Airbnb in Boise
In Idaho, nothing beats the potatoes, even when it comes to vacation rentals. This particular Airbnb is steeped in Idaho history. Somebody screwed up when they named Idaho the Gem State because the real gems are found underground, in the fertile soil. Don't believe me? Step one foot into Idaho just once and you'll hear enough about Idaho's potatoes to last a lifetime. The Gem State's fondness for potatoes knows no limit.
This right here is a 6-ton potato and according to host Kristie, it was once part of the Idaho Potato Commission’s Big Idaho Potato Tour.
When life gives you potatoes, make a vacation rental.
When you're a 6-ton potato, what do you do? You hit the road! As part of the Big Idaho Potato Tour, this beauty saw 48 different states as a big rig semi truck hauled it all over the open road.
This 6-ton potato has been converted into an Airbnb near Boise.
So when a world-famous giant potato gets retired, where does it go? Since we don't know if there's a potato heaven (or hell), there aren't many outcomes for decommissioned spuds. To save the potato from becoming giant-sized french fries, Kristi stepped in and converted it into a rental.
In its newfound life, the potato fits a queen-sized bed and furniture to provide a unique (and cozy) getaway experience. It has the modern basics you may be looking for, such as power outlets. On the property is a converted silo that has been repurposed for
"a spa retreat." If you ever feel lonely on the 400-acre property just minutes away from Boise, Kristie says their jersey cow will be your "fuzzy pet for the stay."
If you were already making the trip to Boise, you may consider this tantalizing tuber.
