Wednesday evening, Pasco police and other law enforcement agencies were involved in a standoff-shooting incident at 5714 Sacramento Drive in Pasco.

Pasco police and the SWAT team went to the man's home Wednesday evening on a report of a man barricaded inside his home, threatening people with a gun.    Officers had responded initially after reports that 49-year-old Richard A. Howard had fired a weapon several times.

For a number of hours, police surrounded the home,  and finally, late Wednesday evening around 10:30pm  Howard was shot by a member of the SWAT Team after he allegedly exited the home and waved a long rifle at police in a threatening manner.

An autopsy is scheduled for later today, said Blasdel.    The standoff had lasted about two hours.

The case is being investigated by Richland and Kennewick teams, no other details have been released.
