Inslee 2022 Salmon Agenda Favors Snake River Dam Removal

From Gov. Jay Inslee's salmon "rescue" plan announced Tuesday:

"Hydropower impacts. Collaborate on Columbia and Snake River hydropower impacts and participate in new hydropower licensing efforts to ensure we address the impacts to salmon and state waters. Identify whether there are reasonable means for replacing the benefits of the four lower Snake River dams should the federal government move to remove them."  (bold lettering added for emphasis)

You have to understand how these plans are worded. Politicalspeak. He didn't outright say tear them down, but in the age-old language of politicians, it's clear he is not adamant in supporting hydropower when it comes to his environmental causes.

Tuesday Governor Inslee released his Saving Our Struggling Salmon proposals Tuesday, Dec.14th. at a press conference in LaConner Wa.

He is proposing spending $187 million across a variety of platforms to ensure what his experts say is the struggling salmon population, especially with certain species.

   INSLEE WANTS TO MONITOR AND LIMIT COMMERCIAL AND OTHER FISHING OF SALMON

This passage is from his plan:

"Expand our monitoring of recreational and commercial salmon catch in freshwaters along Puget Sound, the Coast, the marine water of Puget Sound and the ocean. Increase the number of law enforcement officers to enforce fisheries laws and to coordinate compliance efforts with federal agencies and tribes."

In layman's terms, look for significant restrictions coming if the legislature passes bills to give him this plan.

Many of these plans will result in reduced fishing and aquatic employment for a lot of foodservice companies.
