Since not everyone in the family will have the same idea for where to go on vacation or a day trip, why not make choosing where to go a fun thing?

Avoid hearing a bunch of whining and complaining by asking everyone in your family where they would like to do without leaving Washington State or what types of activities they want to do for a day.

Next, write down each of these categories on a slip of paper, put them in a hat, and pick a family member to pull the day trip out of the hat. That way, *they* will be to blame if the trip goes sour. (I kid, I kid!)

My favorite road trip with my daughter was when she was about 10 or 11. We got invited to stay at the Alderbrook Resort and that road trip was fun and we both left feeling refreshed from the family bonding. I miss her being that tender age!
