Fire Weather Watch Covers Pendleton, Hermiston, The Dalles Through Thursday

We've got a lot going on weather-wise around the Columbia Basin and Eastern Washington over the next few days.

We are also close to the Oregon border, and they've got their own set of problems.

It's smoke and haze in the air in the Tri-Cities, but around us, several wildfires rage on, and we've got some new updates for you when it comes to Pendleton, Hermiston, and The Dalles.

Triple Threat: Wind, Heat, and 10% Humidity Trigger Fire Weather Watch

Our good buddy Mark Ingalls from Ingalls Weather is keeping us updated on a weather alert that you should be aware of over the next few days.

Here is what he wrote on his weather site:

Fire weather watch for Hermiston and Pendleton west to The Dalles and south to the Blue Mountains for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Northeast winds are forecast to be around 15-25 mph / 25-40 kmh, but the real kicker is that when we get northeasterlies, we get very dry air. Relative humidity down to 10%.

This event isn’t as extreme as yesterday’s, was that brought fires burning in Spokane, but it is important to be aware of.

Over the next few days, for us here in the Tri-Cities, our air quality is the main concern, but once you leave the Columbia Basin, you'll enter fire weather watch areas that'll remind you that a simple spark could launch a wildfire.
