This Washington Town’s Name Makes Me Giggle Like a Schoolgirl
I turned 30 this year and learned some things about myself: not much has changed. I'm still a giggling idiot. I think farts are hilarious. My wife calls me immature but she also thinks farts are funny. We have a five-year-old who also loves farts. What I'm trying to say is that I'm the first to laugh at most things. That's why this Washington town's peculiar name has me in stitches.
Humptulips may be the most hilariously-named town in Washington.
Washington has a lot of towns that look funny on highway signs. Touchet is one that immediately comes to mind, although "Too-chee" is less funny sounding than "touch it." Nooksack is another one that makes me smirk but there's this little spot on the Olympic Peninsula that offers some of the best experiences in Washington. Oh, and its name sounds like a sex thing.
Humptulips has less than 300 people but it welcomes those who dare to adventure. If you like communing with nature, namely that sweet, sweet Pacific Northwest iconography, Humptulips is a hidden gem. Not only are you near forests and a national park, but the Humptulips River is also in, you guessed it, Humptulips.
Popular activities along the Humptulips River include kayaking and fly fishing. If you've never done it before, you need to go fly fishing at least once. Standing in the middle of a moving river can be surreal but once you get your cast down, it's a whole vibe.
