An accident at the Juniper Dunes Recreational area about 10 miles northeast of Pasco sent a woman to an area hospital by helicopter Thursday afternoon.

The woman, whose name was not released, was doing some off road riding when she crashed.Franklin County Sheriff's Deputies did not say what she was riding, but she did not suffer life-threatening injuries.

Sheriff's officials say alcohol or drugs were NOT a factor in the crash, it appears the woman either lost control or hit some terrain that caused her to crash. Due to the remoteness of the region, a Life Flight helicopter was used to extract her.

Authorities remind people who recreate and ride in the area to exercise caution, make sure they have emergency and first-aid kits, and check the areas you plan to ride in to avoid surprise bumps, drop-offs or other potential dangerous areas.
