Jury Acquits Man In Kennewick Shooting Case
After deliberating for over 3 1/2 hours a Kennewick Benton County Superior Court jury has accepted a Kennewick man's account that he shot another man in self-defense, leaving him paralyzed.
Although Tyree Q. Houfmuse was found guilty of 2nd. Degree Felon in possession of a firearm, he was not charged in the shooting of Anthony L. Asselin last Thanksgiving outside the Village Tavern in Kennewick.
Asseling was Houfmuse's girlfriends ex, and prior to the shooting, the woman had reportedly received a large number of phone calls threatening to kill her.
Houfmuse and the woman went to the Village on Thanksgiving for drinks, and when Asselin showed up, he and Hourmuse went outside to talk. Houfmuse claimed the other man pulled a gun, and when he did Houfmuse shot him.
