Kennewick Officers Hurt in Arrest, Tazer Doesn’t Faze Suspect
Often times, a suspect may be under the influence of some sort of narcotic when they're shot with a Tazer and it has no effect despite a direct hit. (Image-Kennewick Police- KEPR TV).
Wednesday evening, around 6:30PM Kennewick officers were attempting to serve a warrant for a restraining order violation at an apartment complex near Quay and Clearwater Ave.
The suspect, 32-year-old Juan Martinez, became combative when officers found him, he was in an area violating a no-contact order.
But when they tried to apprehend him, he became violent and was fighting officers. A Tazer shot appeared to have no impact on him, but he was finally subdued. Two KPD Officers sustained minor injuries, Martinez was also injured and taken to Trios Southridge ER for treatment, then to jail.
He now has multiple other charges facing him besides the Felony for violating the protection-no contact order.
As for the Tazer, officers did not say if they felt Martinez was under the influence of any drugs or narcotics.
