The suspect threatened the victim with a knife.
The ACSO reports the Officer responded to the area of 2nd and Lewis Streets in Ritzville, where a man was seen hitting a woman. When the Officer arrived, there were two people there and he began to interview the woman.
However, the man, identified as 45-year-old Brian Sumner began to interfere, so much so the Officer attempted to arrest him. However, Sumner pulled a knife and then placed it against the chest of the woman after first attempting to swipe it at the Policeman.
A citizen was able to move the woman away from the suspect, who then tried to flee with the Officer in pursuit. The Officer fired his Taser, but it didn't stop Sumner. He then jumped in his vehicle and sped away, driving in a reckless and unsafe manner, causing the Officer to break off the pursuit for safety reasons.

The woman did not sustain any serious injuries. These law enforcement agencies are seeking tips as to Sumner's location, if anyone spots him call (509)-659-1122.
UPDATE---The Adams County Sheriff's Office says Sumner has been located in Spokane and arrested. He's now being extradited to Adams County.
