Kennewick Police–2025 Annual Report Shows Overall Crime Dropped 19 Percent
The 2025 Kennewick Police Department's annual report is out, showing overall crime dropped noticeably last year, as did several major categories.
Overall Crime in Kennewick Went Down 19 Percent
The annual report shows major reductions in violent crime, also down 15 percent, and property crimes (theft, burglary) dropped over 24 percent.
Several other areas had noticeable drops, especially auto theft, which was down 54 percent over 2024. Animal cruelty incidents dropped 400 percent as well.
However, Some Areas Showed Significant Increases
Some of these other crime statistics reflect growing issues not just in Kennewick, Tri-Cities, or WA State, but nationally. Human trafficking arrests-cases went from 1 to five, a jump of 400 percent, and criminal cases involving pornography/obsenities went up 44 percent.

School Resource Officers played a big role in 2025, there are 8 of them, 1 at each high school, and each middle school. There were 1,032 calls for service for these Officers, including 12 weapons investigations, 71 assault investigations, 10 drug or alcohol calls, and 219 traffic citations issued to HS-age drivers around the 3 high schools.
Resource Officers also made a total of 104 arrests.
K-9 Ivan was Busy As Well
KPD has one Police Dog, Ivan, who is an 8-year-old German Shepard/Malinois mix from the Czech Republic. Ivan responded to 345 calls for service, he made 42 total searches, assisted on 40 other cases outside of KPD (request for assistance) and he was responsible for 23 takedowns or apprehensions.
And KPD was part of the Metro Drug Task Force, in 2025 they assisted with 133 cases, and sezied extensive amounts of meth, fentanyl, and cocaine. However, heroin appears to have greatly diminished as the 'drug of choice,' as none was seized in 2025.
