Lawsuit Holds Two Spokane Deputies Responsible for 2013 Death
The family of Will Berger is suing two deputies for his death back in 2013. The officers are accused of using excessive force during a takedown which ultimately ended in his death. After Berger became agitated at a gym and and ran into traffic. The officers tased him and put him in a choke hold.
The medical examiner said cause of death was deprivation of oxygen to the brain and ruled the death as a homicide. Heather Yakely, the attorney representing Spokane County, says the officers had authorization to use deadly force to protect themselves.
