
2 Rescued From Kennewick Residence After Terrifying Roommate Death Threat, Standoff
After hours of refusing commands, the suspect was finally taken into custody by Kennewick Police and SWAT.
Early Monday Morning Standoff Includes Threat to Roommates
Police had tried numerous methods to get the man to give up but they didn't work.
Around 3:07 AM Monday morning, Police were called to a residence in the 4600 block of West Grande Ronde in Kennewick about a threat. 2 roommates told 9-1-1 their roommate threatened them, appeared to be armed with a knife.

Officers were able to get the 2 out safely, and ensured other residents in the area were OK. However, SWAT had to be called in because the suspect, Devon Rex, had barricated himself inside a bedroom, and was said to be armed with a large knife.
Suspect Refused to Communicate with Officers
KPD said he threw back a communication device they had tossed in, so they could talk with him and try to defuse the situation. He also refused to respond to other less-lethal methods, and even destroyed a drone that was deployed inside the residence for surveillance.
Finally, after just over five hours, the suspect was apprehended as Officers breached the home. Rex is now facing multiple charges.
