Best of 2012 August – No Happy Ending For Kennewick’s Unlicensed Massage Therapists
Kennewick police have shut down what turned out to be an unlicensed massage parlor and arrested two women on charges of assault with sexual motivation.
Investigators from Kennewick Police and ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) with U.S. Marshals began to look into The China Sun massage parlor at 3321 W. Kennewick Ave. after receiving a complaint from a customer. Authorities say police received a complaint July 27 from a female customer who was receiving a massage at the other China Sun location on Grandridge that she was touched in an "inappropriate manner."
Undercover agents were sent in to investigate and a second such incident allegedly occurred. Officials discovered the business was operating without the necessary licensing. Five people have been arrested, and the company's records seized. Two of the women taken into custody are 44-year-old Xiu Qin Sun, and 43-year-old Lu Yan Zehn and are facing fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation charges.
All five arrested were arrested with suspicion of practicing without a license and one person with felony accomplice to practicing without a license. Police say China Sun's business license has been revoked. They are also asking anyone who may have had a similar incident there to contact the business number of the Kennewick Police Department.
