No Recreating Allowed on DNR (State) Lands, Due to Fire Danger
Due to extremely high fire danger, and in the wake of this Labor Day weekend's storms and blazes, the Department of Natural Resources has just issued a restriction for recreating.
All lands managed by the DNR (WA State) will be 'off limits' for camping, hunting and other recreating on the East side of the Cascades, through at least Friday. According to a statement issued by DNR, which read in part:
"All DNR-managed lands east of the Cascades are closed to recreation starting Tuesday morning due to the ongoing high fire danger. The closure will last at least through Friday. DNR staff will evaluate the possibility of extending the closure as the week goes on. We will announce the reopening of public lands to recreation when it again becomes safe."
Other forest activities such as timber harvesting has been halted for at least a few days. DNR may extend the ban depending upon weather conditions.
DNR lands are not to be confused with Federal lands of National Parks.
