Investigation Launched After Okanogan County Jail Inmate Dies In Cell
As is with the majority of Law Enforcement agencies, an outside entity will handle the investigation.
WSP Looking Into Okanogan County Jail Inmate Death
The age of the victim and their gender was not released, but the Okanogan County Sheriff's Office reports July 24th, an inmate experienced some sort of issue and died in the housing unit.

Around 8:32 AM, Jail personell found the inmate unconscious and unresponsive. Despite extensive rescessation efforts by EMS, including use of an AED heart device they were not able to revive them.
The person was pronounced dead just after 9 AM. At the request of the OCSO, the Washington State Patrol will lead the investigation, while the county coroner will try to determine the cause of death.
Were There Any Medical Conditions?
It is not known if the person had any underlying medical conditions. When a person is booked into jail, we often hear about them being "medically cleared," even if they were not necessarily injured. This is to help determine if they do have any conditions that require special or extra care while in jail.
Why the person was in the jail, and how long they had been there was also not yet released.
