Some library patrons and readers noticed the post on June 1st. and wondered what was going on.

Mid Columbia Library's main branch goes curbside

According to the Mid Columbia Library system, and reports from YakTriNews.com, the main branch of the MCL on South Union has had to go curbside.

According to officials and these reports, they've been having problems with their HVAC system. In short, it's not able to keep the building cool enough to allow people a degree of comfort while browsing and reading.

No word as to what expenses would be to replace or fix the system, but officials told YakTriNews they've ordered window tinting and fans to keep the air moving and provide some comfort, but like many items these days, supply issues have delayed that.

The South Union branch is the largest in the MCL system.

The City of Kennewick owns the library, but it is operated by the Mid Columbia Library system, which has 12 branches in Benton, Franklin, and even Asotin Counties.
