Pasco Hotel Fire Sends One to Hospital
According to sources, it is believed a person fell asleep with a lit cigarette, causing extensive damage to a room, smoke damage in others.
Sunday evening, shortly after 5pm, fire crews responded to the Tahitian Hotel on Lewis and 28th in Pasco for reports of fire and smoke shooting up from the building. Crews were able to confine the blaze to one room, but smoke damage was sustained in at least three others.
Authorities say electrical sparks triggered from the blaze made it difficult for firefighters to work inside the fight the blaze. One man is in Lourdes Medical center with burns to his face, but his condition is not known.
The reports of the lit cigarette have not been confirmed by officials, but several witnesses said the person fell asleep and the cigarette started the blaze. The investigation continues.
