Not only was it excellent work by Pasco police, but kudos to the motorist who spotted the man around 5am Thursday morning.

Pasco police reported a driver heading over the Cable Bridge saw the man standing outside the railing, near the middle of the structure. They called 911.

Pasco police arrived quickly, and after about 20 minutes, Officers John D'Aquila and Matt Griffin were able to convince the man to talk to a counselor about his problems. The two officers relied upon their crisis management training to convince the man not to jump. Given the weather conditions and darkness, plus his attire (bulky clothing) they likely saved his life. He probably would not have survived going into the water.

A big thank you to the driver who saw him, and the Pasco Police Department!
