This weekend hundreds of athletes from around the world will compete in an epic 100 mile mountain trail race right here in the Tri-Cities.

The race is called The Badger Mountain Challenge and is put on by the Nomad Trail Runners of Eastern Washington. There are multiple race lengths so everyone can take part just in case running 100 miles scares you.

The Badger Mountain Challenge takes place this Friday March 30th through Saturday March 31st.

The main race is 100 miles long and takes a full 2 days for runners to complete. There is also a 50 mile, 50k, and 15k for beginners, according to reports.

The course uses trails, footpaths, dirt roads and even short lengths of pavement in the grueling race. They will face long uphill climbs and lots of uneven running surfaces with most of the course being on trails or dirt.

Last year a 35 year old man from Spokane won the 100 mile race with a time of 17 hours 32 minutes.

All funds raised will help benefit Friends of Badger Mountain, Washington Trails Association, Girls on the Run and Team in Training.
