A 46-year-old man learned the hard way, the folks at Sportsman's Warehouse don't like shoplifters, and they 'detained' this guy even though he sprayed them.

Brian Hughes and his accomplice, 22-year-old Lavanndre Sabb were approached and detained Sunday at the store on Canal Drive in Kennewick for allegedly shoplifting. Hughes then pulled out pepper spray and tried to douse the loss prevention officers.

But it didn't work. He was taken down and both were held in a room until police arrived. So now he's not only facing shoplifting, but a felony assault charge. The case has been sent to the prosecutor.  Kennewick officers said  Hughes had some sort of medical incident that was not related to the shoplifting. and was admitted to the hospital.
