Efforts to restore power to the Fukushima Nuclear plant were thwarted a short time ago by excessive radiation levels.

It is thought that restoring power to the plant would possibly help with the cooling to bring the nuclear material under control, as well as restore some control over the failing nuclear facility.  Some officials believe the cooling systems may have been damaged beyond repair due to aftershocks from the Tsunami; and some radioactive material may have "boiled dry" and could be the source of radiation being released.  Officials with the Tokyo Electric company hope to have power restored at Fukushima by saturday or sunday.
