Rampant Driver Hits 2 Cars, Bus, Ends Up Being Flown to Harborview
Walla Walla police continue to investigate a high-speed crash Monday evening that took out a car, damaged a Walla Walla City Transit bus, and ended up sending the driver to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious injuries.
Around 9:23pm, police say the driver, Miguel A. Cortez, 20, of College Place, was westbound on Rose Ave. at a speed dangerously over the limit. He tried to swerve between two other cars, but hit one of them, then slammed into the bus. His car then crossed the median and hit a third vehicle.
He was flown to Harborview, but his condition is not known. A woman in the car with him was treated at Providence-St. Mary's Hospital in Walla Walla. In addition, the transit driver indicated he sustained injuries, likely from the impact on the bus.
The State Patrol is assisting in the investigation, no word on charges being yet filed.
