Before sharing the story of the Richland man that had a two hour standoff with police after a dispute with his father, I thought I would try to find out how many police standoffs actually worked out for the bad guy. I googled, I asked Alexa, I even asked my wife and she knows everything! It turns out, the police always win. In fact, additional charges are almost always added when you don't surrender all peaceable like. So I called and old friend from high school who's usually pretty glassed, and has been in and out of jail his whole life (my dad wouldn't let me hang out with him), and asked him why a wanted person would ever "standoff" rather than just turn themselves in, because the police always win. All he said was "do you know where I can score some crank?" That was pretty much all the explanation I needed.
