Richland Middle School Lockdown Due to Taser Brought By Student

The lockdown and threat reported Tuesday at Carmichael Middle School in Richland was reportedly due to a student bringing a Taser to school.

Authorities say the 13-year-old student brought the weapon, and made threats to other students. He had it in his locker in a backpack, it was found after a search that occurred when the student was pulled from class.

Richland police say there was no threat to the school, but the threats were made to other students. The 13-year old was reportedly distraught over a relationship breakup, according to Yaktrinews.com.

School officials say they were tipped off about the situation from parents, who told them they'd heard from their children rumors about threats of violence.
