The City of Richland announced Wednesday, beginning Friday July 3rd, the George Prout Pool will be closed until July 13th due to major parking lot renovations.

   The Columbia Playfield North Lot Will Be Closed For Some Time

Major renovations, the biggest in years, will take place at the lot.  It's the bigger of the two parking areas at Columbia Playfields, which have taken a lot of work from vehicles the last few years.

Aside from being the home for the Tri-Cities Girls Fastpitch Softball League, the lot has been used for parking for the WIAA 1A and 4AAA State Softball Tournaments the last four years, as well as numerous club softball showcases.

   Major Improvements Coming, Says City

According to information released by the City, the renovations are significant:

"The project includes full reconstruction of the existing pavement surface, stormwater drainage improvements, new parking lot striping, and the installation of parking lot lighting."

The West Parking Lot next to the pool will remain open during these renovations, but again, the Pool will be closed from July 3 through 12th, slated to re-open July 13.

    The North Lot Expected to be Completed by Fall of 2026

These renovations are expected to be completed by this fall, the SOUTH lot, will remain open during this renovation period. This parking is over by the playground at the south of of Columbia Playfields.
