Police are searching for the suspect who shot the store clerk early Monday morning.

Around 2:50am, police were called to the 7-11 on Summitview Drive for a report of a robbery and shooting. The clerk, a 47-year-old man, had been shot in the leg. He told police a man entered the store with a gun demanding cash, but the clerk locked himself in the store's office.

After waiting a number of minutes, he returned to the counter, thinking the suspect was gone, but he was not. The suspect then shot twice at the man, hitting him in the leg, but fled the store without taking anything.

A canine unit was not able to follow the suspect's trail. He's described as a white male, about 5'8" to 5' 10" 180 lbs, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and brown shoes. He was also wearing a white, yellow and black skull face mask.

The investigation continues.
