Search on For Lewiston Shooter; Four Hurt Including Officer
A Nez Perce Tribal Police officer is in St. Joe's Hospital suffering from two gunshot wounds after he was ambushed at his home Wednesday afternoon.
Little is known about the shooter, but Lewiston, ID, police and the Lewis County Sheriff's Office are investigating along with Clarkston, WA, police after the incident.
Officials say Officer Josh Rigney was at his home in the Lewiston Orchards area with his wife when a man came to the door. Rigney, who was off-duty, answered, and the man opened fire. He was hit twice, and is in serious condition.
Lewiston County Sheriff's say a total of four people were shot in the Orchards area within minutes of each other. They didn't say if it was the same assailant, or if the have any leads on the shooters. More information is expected as the suspect hunt and investigation continues.
