Shocking Domestic Violence Stabbing Claims Life in Richland

A lot of information is expected out soon, but we do know a woman is dead after an early morning stabbing in Richland.

  Officers called to an area on Cosmic Lane after "frantic" 9-1-1 call

According to Richland Police, and a press video from Lt Damon Jansen of RPD, at around 5 AM officers were dispatched to a home in the 50 block of Cosmic Lane in Richland, near Spengler Street.  It's located in northwest Richland, just east of Stevens Drive.

Upon arrival, RPD and Jansen say they found a man and woman who had been stabbed, suffering from multiple wounds. A male subject, whose ID has not yet been released, was found at the location with a knife in his hand.

Jansen and RPD said the initial call was treated as a "welfare check" but officers quickly were dispatched in part because of difficulty from the caller in communicating exactly what was happening, but it was found to be extremely serious.

He was apprehended without incident. Both victims were rushed to Kadlec Hospital, but the woman died despite lifesaving measures.

Lt. Jansen confined the male victim is in "serious" condition. He also described the 9-1-1 call as "frantic" and it appears the stabbing occurred not long before the police arrived.

No other information has been released, the scene is still being evaluated by investigators, but Jansen said it is being treated as a Domestic Violence incident.
