Shocking Highway 12 Crash Triggered by Intoxicated Driver, Say Cops
Highway 12 is no picnic and can be dangerous, especially between Wallula and Touchet. But alcohol was the cause for this incident.
Sunday evening about 7:30pm, 29-year-old Caleb Rude was Eastbound on the road near the Cameo Heights area, when his Nissan Sentra crossed over the centerline, hitting a pickup towing a camp trailer head on.
The driver of the truck, 52-year-old Dennis Browning, was not injured in the crash, but Rude sustained serious injuries and had to be rushed to Providence St. Mary's Hospital in Walla Walla. The exact extent of his injuries was not known.
The Washington State Patrol said Monday Rude was intoxicated on either drugs or alcohol. Charges likely pending, the investigation continues.
