Public hearings and comments are being taken by the Washington State Department of Transportation about raising the speed limit to 75 over a 100-mile stretch in our neck of the woods.

Public hearings will be held in Moses Lake and Ritzville.  The Ritzville meeting will happen April 19th from 4-7pm at the Best Western Bronco Inn, April 20th in Moses Lake at the Civic Center at 11am.

The best option is to leave comments on the WSDOT Website.  If increased the limit would go to 75 between George, WA and the Spokane County line, roughly 100 miles.

In 2015 a bill passed in the legislature allowing the Department to raise any speed limit on any highway within the state borders, provided it doesn't compromise safety. The limit would remain at 60 for vehicles over 10,000lbs, or those pulling trailers or other secondary cargo.
