Solar-Powered Airplane Making Trip from California to New York Without One Drop of Fuel

Solar Impulse is the most advanced solar-powered plane in the world. It is scheduled to make a trip across the United States this summer.

The plane will leave the California NASA Ames Research Center in May and make New York’s Kennedy Airport its final destination in early July.

Solar Impulse representatives have stated that the entire trip won’t use a drop of fuel. The plane is powered by photovoltaic cells that allow it to fly day and night without jet fuel.
