Sunday Night Drag Race Wrecks Car, 2 Busted

Two cars decided to drag race down Clearwater Street in Kennewick, one of them crashed, and now two people are in jail.

Around 10:50pm Sunday night, an officer on patrol observed two vehicles pulling up to a red light at Edison side by side, then rocketed away when it turned green. The officer quickly caught up to them, and as he attempted to overtake them and execute a traffic stop one of the drivers lost control and crashed into a yard.

Both the drivers were able to be pulled over, and 19-year old's Luis Mendez and Felipe Baca were arrested for Reckless Driving (Racing). Luckily for them, nobody was injured in the incident.
