
Suspect Uses Stolen City Truck to Smash ATM in Western WA Theft Attempt
Island County Sheriff's Investigators are searching to this suspect, who did a number on a bank ATM. Island is the county were Oak Harbor, Port Townsend, and Whidbey Island and other landmarks are located.
The suspect used a stolen truck to smash ATM in cash attempt
ISCO Officials said around 5:03 AM the suspect used a Ford F250 pickup stolen from the City of Coupeville to ram the ATM. It was stolen from a parking lot at the Island County Courthouse.
He fashioned a harpoon-like device using the truck's trailer hitch, then sped backwards and plowed into the ATM, probably with the hope of breaking it open.
Investigators said when that failed, the man tried to pry it open with a pry bar with no success before he finally sped off.

Later, the truck was found abandoned a few miles away around 11:51 AM. The suspect was not able to get any cash from the ATM. The investigation continues.
