Suspect Tosses Gun During Citywide Chase Before Crashing
A suspect, whose name was not released, is in custody after a wild citywide chase in Kennewick Tuesday. UPDATE---27-year-old Dominic Woodward is the suspect who was arrested. He had stolen a truck.
Police were called to the Motel 6 on Highway 395 next to DQ Grill and Chill over a disturbance. When officers arrived around 8AM, they noticed a vehicle there matched the description of one recently reported stolen.
Officers reported a man at the motel refused their commands, then climbed in the car and sped off; nearly hitting two patrol cars. Nearby witnesses who saw the ensuing chase saw the man throw what appeared to be a gun from the vehicle. He ended up heading west on Canal.
Some officers doubled back and recovered the firearm, while others continued the chase. It was then called off due to safety concerns, but a short time later a Benton County Deputy spotted the car in the mall parking lot, driving erratically.
The Deputy attempted to pull over the driver, but he lost a wheel and ditched the car west of the mall on Gage. He was eventually captured, and is now facing a wide list of felony charges. The investigation continues.
UPDATE---the vehicle he stole was taken Monday, police say he is an 11-time felon who was in possession of a firearm. At the time of his arrest he had meth and fentanyl pills on his person.
