Shortly after 9pm, Benton and Franklin County Marine Patrol units (watercannon-equipped patrol boats) and Pasco Fire crews worked to put out a small, but fast-moving fire on the dike along the Columbia River.
The fire was west of the Blue Bridge, and was likely started by fireworks...
Fire crews from all over Walla Walla county and other areas helped respond to a huge building fire in the small town of Waitsburg Sunday night.
No word as to how the blaze began, but the Walla Walla County Sheriff's office posted a couple of photos...
Wednesday night fire crews and Benton County Sheriff's deputies responded to a grass fire near the intersection of Harrington and Baker Roads, less than a half mile south of Horn Rapids along Highway 240.
The fire is now believed to have begun because somebody was lighting off fireworks in the area...
With the triple digit temps coming this weekend, and early next, much of the Columbia Basin is under a red-flag fire watch. That apparently didn't stop somebody from using fireworks where they're not supposed to.
