TC Americans ‘Cleared’ To Resume Play, Vs. Spokane Wednesday

The Tri-City Americans have been cleared to resume play, after being off for about ten days due to a positive COVID test within the organization. The WHL does not release player personal information due to the player's ages.

According to the Western Hockey League Tuesday:

"The Americans are scheduled to practice Monday evening for the first time since entering a league-mandated isolation period following the discovery of a positive test for COVID-19 on Friday, April 16. Though one additional positive test for COVID-19 was discovered within the Americans team cohort, this occurred while the individuals were in isolation and does not impact upon the initial start of the 10-day isolation period required by the Washington State Department of Health."

They were cleared to resume activities Monday after a nearly ten day pause of all team activity.  Saturday April 17th it was announced there was a positive test within the organization, and those weekend games, plus a mid-week game April 21, and last weekend's games were scrubbed.

Several WHL teams have gone through similar situations, the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL's Central Division were off for 14 days due to COVID tests, and just last week returned to play.

The Americans will face Spokane Wednesday, and then this weekend Saturday May 1st in Portland. Although the US Division schedule will be modified somewhat, it is said the lost games will not be made up.
