Travelers Expect Delays on I-90 Near Cle Elum This Weekend
If you are headed out to the West Side this weekend, be aware of a slowdown on I-90 near Cle Elum this weekend.
The Department Of Transportation sent out an advisory concerning the slowdown this weekend.
Drivers traveling westbound on Interstate 90 this weekend need to plan for added travel time due to a lane closure near Cle Elum at milepost 88.
The DOT issued this statement concerning the lane closure
The Washington State Department of Transportation closed the right lane Tuesday night, Oct. 2 after a string of collisions in the area prompted a closer look at the pavement. This new section of concrete was completed in fall 2017. However, a recent test of the concrete surface shows a subsequent reduction in skid resistance.
Currently, WSDOT is working to hire a contractor to grind the surface of the roadway to increase friction and add traction. For the safety of the traveling public, the right westbound lane will remain closed until the work is finished.
Drivers need to plan for added travel time and expect delays through the area, especially those traveling on Sunday. Detour routes around the lane closure are available via US 97 to State Route 970.
Just be aware of these delays as you are headed out for the weekend.
