Remember when "The Grinch," "Merry Christmas Charlie Brown," "Frosty the Snowman," and other holiday specials were on just once a year? If you missed it you were screwed. But the TV stations did something else that took the "special" from holiday specials... maybe I'm the only one who noticed.

There is some audio missing from these holiday specials, and it's the "SPECIAL PRESENTATION" introduction (see below). For example, anytime I heard the "CBS Special Presentation" announcement and music, I KNEW that something really awesome was about to come on!

The announcement went something like, "Because of the following Special Program, blah blah blah will NOT be presented this evening." Then it kicked into that special music. They called them "preemption bumpers" and for whatever reason, you don't see them anymore on TV.
I remember it was also the only time you'd see commercials for good cereals in prime time!
