You've probably seen the commercials on TV.  However, it allegedly goes afoul with some state's gambling laws. WA is one of them. Technically, betting is only allowed on sports and only via tribal casinos or other approved similar venues.

You technically can't state on in-state college teams, state law allegedly prohibits you from placing bets from home or work on apps or websites. That' having been said, Kalshi is a "prediction" market platform, where you can bet on anything from politics, to geo-political topics, even wars, to sports and just about anything in between.

WA State Officials say it likely violates the state's gambling laws, and a Federal judge has sided with the state. They issued a preliminary injunction siding with the state, basically prohibiting its implementation and use.

Fox 13 Seattle reports the WA Indian Gaming Commission has applauded the ruling, but given the back-and-forth legal wranglings, this still has not played out complete...not yet.

The lawsuit likely can't cover national television advertising, because that's designed to reach coast to coast, and in many states gambling is legal. But social media campaigns can be more tailored to certain regions.
