Walla Walla Domestic Violence Suspect Barricades Self from SWAT Team
A 32-year-old man is in the Walla Walla County Jail after a protracted standoff with the SWAT team related to a domestic violence issue.
Around 3:35pm Sunday afternoon, SWAT and police were called to a home in the 400 block of West Cherry street. Police were able to make verbal contact with the man and woman inside the home, but the male used a knife to prevent the woman from escaping.
She was able to flee into a bedroom and barricade the door. Meanwhile, the SWAT team and negotiators began talking with the man, and eventually gave up. Force had to be used, but police did not say exactly what. The man, identified as John T. Rowe, was rushed to the hospital with a non-life threatening wound and is likely facing a variety of charges. He was then taken to the jail.
The woman was unharmed; the investigation is under way and no further details released.
