Despite the horrible winter, and following heavy rain and crummy weather, Oregon and Washington officials say there's no reason to extend the studded tire season any longer. The same for our state, according to the WSDOT.

These days, advancements in tires have greatly reduced the number of vehicles which utilize the tiny metal spikes in the tire, but a number of vehicles still rely on them.

Especially those who travel in very bad conditions, over the mountain passes or rural roads with little plowing or snow removal. While very effective, however, studded tires are increasingly blamed for costing a lot of money because they wear down pavement so fast.

Oregon and Washington officials say all studded tires must be off by midnight Friday 3-31.  Happy driving!
