You can't hear a car ad on TV without hearing about "it's an IIHS safety pick".  Well the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has released their 2018 choices for safest cars.  The IIHS is pretty much now the "Bible" when it comes to which cars have the best safety features, and the highest stars in crash tests etc.  (5-Star safety or crash rating).

According to information released by PEMCO Insurance, the IIHS list includes the following top picks, without listing every vehicle:

SMALL CARS

KIa Forte, Kia Soul, Subaru WRX and Impreza, Mazda 3, Hyundai Elantra, Toyota Carolla, Prius, Chevy Volt.

SMALL SUV's

Hond CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-3 and 5, Mitsubishi Outlander, NIssan Rogue, Subaru Forester, Toyota RAV-4.

MID SIZE CARS

Subaru Legacy and Outback, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Nissan Altima, Nissan Maxima.

MID SIZE SUV's

Honda Pilot, KIa Sorento, Maxda CX-9, Toyota Highlander

The only large truck shown on the list was the Honda Ridgeline, there were also safety picks for large luxury cars, as well as large and mid-size luxury SUV's.  To see the full report, click here.
