Why Should I Become a Republican? [OPINION]

I am 20 years of age. I do everything right; I follow the rules and I have never been in trouble with the law. As for my political standpoint, I am uncommitted and independent. Can you convince me to vote with you?

I have always viewed the Republican Party as a conservative party. Conservative to me has always meant people who do not want to change politically -- stay with what is working (essentially). I also view Republicans as the party that is all for firearm rights.

I don't know much about the Republican party or politics in general. Why should I become a Republican?
