WSP–Man Who Smashed Car Into Combine Likely DUI
The Washington State Patrol now says a man who slammed his car into a combine early Sunday morning near Walla Walla was likely driving under the influence.
What Led Up to Deadly Injury Crash?
The crash occurred around 6:27 AM on Highway 12, about three miles east of Touchet. Troopers didn't say which direction the man was heading, but he sustained significant injuries.
31-year-old Mycheal Summers of Walla Walla reportedly crossed the center line and collided with the combine coming the opposite way. Although he survived he was rushed to Providence St. Mary's Hospital and his current condition is not known.
WSP did not say if he was wearing a seatbelt, but they highly believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in Summer's crossing the centerline and the collision.
The driver of the combine, whose name was not released, did not sustain any injuries, nor was there any mention of any citations for him, however, WSP says charges are pending for Summers.
The crash remains under investigation.
