Yakima's Rattlesnake Ridge crack continues to grow daily and estimates have the Ridge breaking apart within a few weeks.

The Rattlesnake Ridge crack has caught national coverage with drone video showing the massive crack in the hillside right as you drive into Union Gap.

Evacuation of the area has started and estimates put the total failure of the ridge by mid-February but estimates have been adjusted and a collapse could come as early as Sunday,Jan. 14.

The information comes from the Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management

Based on monitoring data, geologists and engineers who are studying the landslide estimate an event will occur sometime between January 14 and February 28, 2018. This estimate is approximate and is continually updated as more information is gathered.
There are several possibilities but no one knows for sure exactly how this collapse will affect the area until it happens.
