Andrew Kirk has been a journalist for nine years. Although originally from the Tri-Cities, he has lived in Utah for the past 17 years and is a graduate of the University of Utah. He is married with children and currently lives in Richland. He is an amateur historian and used to teach Mandarin Chinese to middle school students in Park City, Utah. For fun he watches movies, visits parks with his kids and occasionally rides a bicycle.

Survey Says You Agree With Richland Mom Who Made Son Hold a Sign

Earlier this week we told you about a Richland mom who made her kid hold a sign on the street as punishment for sneaking out, getting high and pooping on a neighbor’s porch.

Where Are the Best Places to Shoot Guns in the Mid-Columbia?

Who else remembers going to the shooting range with their dad at eleven years old? I do. We would head down to Hole in the Wall and he would show me how to use his Glock -- or sometimes we would head out to Badger Canyon and up into the hills to find a nice spot to unleash the double barrel on an old broke-down computer monitor we didn't need anymore. Needless to say they were good times and great bonding moments with my father. Now I'd like to take my kids out to a good range and show them how to shoot too, but the times have changed. Where are the best places to go shooting and take your family?

Are Richland Schools Segregated? [POLL]

Richland parents don't want their kids going to Chief Joseph Middle School because that's where the poor kids and minorities are. The school has a stigma. According to the story in the Tri-City Herald, the school district has hired great staff at the school. The only difference is the student body. Congratulations Travis Hunt – NCAA Bracket Challenge Winner of Flatscreen TV From Uncle Sam’s Saloon

Travis Hunt tied with Tom Roueche with 43 points in our NCAA Mens Basketball Tournament Bracket Challenge. The total number of points scored in the final game was the tie breaker (158) and with a guess of 142 Travis Hunt is the winner! He gets a 42-inch flatscreen television courtesy of Uncle Sam's Saloon.

Kennewick Man Drifted Off 240 Smashing into Trees at Columbia Park Golf Course

Thursday morning at about 10 a.m. a 40-year-old Kennewick man drifted off west-bound 240 in Kennewick into Columbia Park Golf Course. He struck a stump, which spun his 2002 Subaru and slammed his door against a tree. According to Washington State Trooper Brian Mihelich, it took 35-40 minutes for fire crews to remove him from the the car. The roof was removed and thrown behind the vehicle. He is at a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The stump he hit was ripped out of the ground and thrown several feet away. The airbag deployed.
